The Design Atmosphere

Miami Web Design Pro just realized something – Mom always had a point when it came to lecturing us about our messy rooms. Not only does a messy, cluttered room warrant our mothers’ disapproval, it also serves as an example of web design principles taking place in real life. Just like a cluttered room is unappealing, so is a cluttered website.

Cluttered websites breed things that are irrelevant, out of place, and unnecessary. They appear unattractive because there is too much going on, and it seems as if everything is competing against one another for the attention of the consumer. All of these qualities only make it so that the potential costumer flees immediately, and never comes back.

It’s all about the visual content, as we here at Miami Web Design Pro like to call it. The visual content consists of many things, but it is basically everything what the user can see – the color scheme, the links, the cursor, the content, etc.

When it comes to the colors of your website you need to stay focused and not diverge from your original goal. If you want a website that pops then use bright colors like orange or blue or yellow, like we did. Once you have established a palette you can keep yourself organized using it, for example you can separate more important topics with a dark hue of the same color and smaller topics using a subordinate color.

Typography needs to be simple, too many typefaces in one place will only make it appear as a crammed room, and will make them unfocused and unable to concentrate on your website content.

Imagery. How exactly can images appear too cluttered? Well for one, there can be too many of them; but what really makes imagery cramped is the fact that the images serve no purpose. Unless am image conveys a message and helps with the overall motif of the page, then you need to get rid of it.

Many people underestimate the importance of your website content. It lets your customers know what you’re all about, gives them an idea of what you have to offer, and makes sure that they know who you are. Your content has to be focused and to the point, if too many elements are shouting at visitors (flashing, bold, large, bright….), they are likely to be overwhelmed and move on.

Make sure that your website is clean and has an actual design, instead of a whole mess of things thrown together to try and provide information. And always remember who your audience is and what they’re all about.
