Miami Web Design Pro isn’t about picking on anyone, especially the people we know, because they use these terms; but seriously, there are some words that we can probably live without.
We tend to follow trends when it comes to blogging about web design, and those trends can even carry on to words. Words that have gained some notoriety are:
- Sexy
- Ninja
- Rockstar
- Ultimate
- Inspiring
- Fresh
Seriously, are we the only ones that have a problem with these words? We’ve done our research and it seems like we’re not the only ones, readers typically don’t appreciate the spunk behind those words. “Why?” you may ask, well that’s because it calls into question the intelligence of the reader, it seems like the blogger does not think the reader is capable of deriving to his or her own conclusion about the blog. They tell the user the value of the content without waiting for them to form their own opinion. Arrogant if you ask us.
Here’s what the readers are thinking when they see those words: Don’t tell me it’s “ultimate”; it’ll probably be out of date in a couple of months. Don’t tell me the photos are “inspiring”; it may inspire you, but put me to sleep. Don’t tell me I’ll become a “ninja”; I’ll decide what I’ve become when I’m done reading it, and who said I wanted to be a ninja in the first place? Don’t tell me it’s “fresh”; I am not the Prince of Bel-air so I don’t know what that even means.
So now that you know how we feel, how about you, what do you think? Do you think web design bloggers should try to change the way they write headlines? And okay, we know we have probably done it before, but we’re trying to change. We promise!
One Response to “Design Blogging Terms that would be Better Left Unsaid”
Hi there! Do you know if they make any pniugls to assist with SEO? I’m trying to get my blog to rank for some targeted keywords but I’m not seeing very good gains. If you know of any please share. Thanks!
