LinkIn just recently did a study about the correlation between individuals’ names and their career choice. It seems all you may need to be successful is your name. Ok, we’re only kidding. Hard work and who you know is really why you are successful, but Miami Web Design Pro still thinks its interesting to see the relationships!
“Peter” and “Deborah” are the most popular names of CEOs on the professional social networking site LinkedIn. Male CEOs are most likely to be called Peter, Bob, Jack, Bruce and Fred, whereas female CEOs are most likely named Deborah, Sally, Debra, Cynthia and Carolyn.
So what’s the relation? Males tend to use shorter names because they want to seem approachable to the customers. While females CEOs prefer full length names because they wish to be taken seriously by their peers and customers.
Names do not only vary by gender, they also vary by industry. For example sales professionals tend to have short names: Chip, Todd and Trey, engineering professionals have longer names: Rajesh, Jeremy and Andrew, and heads of food and restaurant organizations have longer, French names: Thierry, Philippe and Laurent.
One Response to “What’s in a name?”
Hello just wetand to give you a quick heads up. The text in your article seem to be running off the screen in Safari. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know. The style and design look great though! Hope you get the issue resolved soon. Cheers
