Customers are always asking us, here at Miami Web Design Pro, why is content important? They are always wondering why they can’t just have an epic website, with lots of pictures? And we always respond with the same answer, because content builds credibility. Without proper content the chances of converting a viewer into a buyer are slim to none. People need reassurance that they are purchasing from someone who knows that they are doing.
Here are some tips to make your content a bit more credible:
Triple-check your grammar. Trust us, we’re speaking from personal experience, when we read a prestigious company’s website and they have a typo, they loose credibility in our eyes; because if they do not take the time to make sure their own content is up-to-par why would they take the time to make sure mine is?
K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid. Short and sweet is the way to the heart’s of most. People read online content differently than printed material, this means that too much information on one page bores them, and they just move on. Our attention spans on the Internet are decreasing each and every day, you need to tailor your content to fit the changing times. So get right to the point and break up larger chunks of copy with headlines and bullet points.
Do NOT use special effects. You will not only annoy your readers, but also appear childish. When you use special effects or excessive exclamation marks, what you are saying is that your content is not interesting enough to stand on it’s own. It is okay to occasionally bold or italicize a phrase or word here and there, just don’t go overboard.
If you don’t get anything from this article expect to keep it simple, clear and brief, we’re okay with that! The way in which you present your content matters as much as what you say; don’t undermine your credibility with easily avoidable mistakes.
