We here at Miami Web Design try to learn the most we can about website content. After all, that is a website’s bread and butter. Without content a potential customer would not know what the company has to offer; and if the content isn’t good then your competitors may beat you out.
Recently we have been studying grammar in websites, and we’ve noticed that the most popular websites do not use the best grammar. Instead, they use what sounds good.
And you thought your annoying little sister was just a brat, but she can be so much more than that. We were all teenagers once and know that friendship was number one on the list of priorities. 77% of surveyed teen girls say they are influenced by the purchases of their friends and 73% of girls who like a brand will recommend it to their friends. So if they like your brand, then you’re in luck. Teenage girls are always talking, and brands and products usually come up as topics of conversation.

Miami Web Design Pro has a covert Harry Potter fan that is not so covert. Our receptionist Stephanie came across an interesting bit of information that we thought might interest you Potter nerds.
1. Hermoine’s name was almost Hermoine Puckle, as opposed to Hermoine Granger. What a mistake that would have been. Ms. Rowling herself has admitted that Hermoine resembles her young self in more ways than one. She was also intended to have a younger sister at some point, but Rowling did never quite find the time to fit her into the plot.
2. The Professor Against the Dark ArtsGilderoy Lockhart was based on someone Rowling knows in real life, her ex-husband. How scandalous! Although she denies this, she has reveled that he is an over-confident and pompous person, hmm can anyone spot the parallels?
3. Hedwig’s character isn’t entirely accurate. For one Snow Owls are diurnal, as well as silent. So Hedwig’s hoots and noises can only be attributed to her magical powers. Also, although we are made to believe she is a female, she is played by a male because females aren’t completely white.
4. Many of the names and places in the books are Rowling originals that she made-up, like quidditch, Voldemort, and Malfoy.
5. Muggles cannot see Hogwarts. If one were to walk across the land all they would see would be castle ruins.
6. The two jokesters of the book, Fred and George Weasley, were born on April Fool’s Day. How fitting.
7. Harry, Ron, Draco and Hermoine all have wand cores after their birthdays. Wand cores resemble our gemstones. Harry and Draco were done incidentally, but Ron and Hermoine were done on purpose.
8. Mrs. Norris, Filch’s cat, is named after a character in Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park.
9. It is said that art imitates life, and Snape was partially inspired by one of Rowling’s past teachers.
10. King’s Cross Station, where young wizards go to take their train to Hogwarts, is actually where Rowling’s parents met. What a romantic background.
Today at Miami Web Design Pro we stumbled upon an interesting article about Facebook regrets the morning after. A new Firefox plug-in has been designed to oversee specific websites to prevent drunken mistakes. All you have to do is flag certain websites and specify the times when you think you will be under the influence. The plug-in will then ask you to pass a sobriety test to log into the website. The plug-in is cleverly titled “The Social Media Sobriety Test.”
Even though this test was designed to prevent drunken people from making mistakes, some sober individuals cannot pass the exams. Tests that are used by the plug-in vary anywhere from typing the alphabet backwards to keeping your cursor inside a box. We guess common sense isn’t so common at times.
This helpful plug-in resembles Google Mail’s “Mail Goggles,” which requires users who install it to solve simple math problems before sending drunken e-emails.
