Your Next Secret Weapon – The Teenage Girl

And you thought your annoying little sister was just a brat, but she can be so much more than that. Web Design Miami wants to show you guys how to utilize all your connections, even your underage ones. Teen girls today are influential social connectors who seek out information about brands from a wide range of sources, and share that information frequently in their social circles.

We were all teenagers once and know that friendship was number one on the list of priorities. 77% of surveyed teen girls say they are influenced by the purchases of their friends and 73% of girls who like a brand will recommend it to their friends. So if they like your brand, then you’re in luck. Teenage girls are always talking, and brands and products usually come up as topics of conversation.

Although most believe that teen girls are fickle creatures, that is not the case. Studies show that they are in fact extremely loyal customers. 69% of teen girls will buy another product by the same brand if they were pleased the first time around, 48% will recommend the brand online, 30% will follow or “like” the brand on a social networking site, and 17% will share links about the brand.

Their friends are a teenage girl’s greatest source of brand and product information, fashion magazines, advertisements, and company websites follow. Peers influence purchasing decision at a 45%, fashion magazines at 32%, consumer reviews at 23%, and celebrities at 14%. Nearly nine in ten teen girls say they enjoy sharing recommendations with their friends. Shopping is cited as the top hobby among 80% of teen girls, ranking higher than reading, playing music, and chatting online. Teen girls also share information about books and magazines (72%), movies and TV content (68%), and electronic devices (60%). Such levels are higher than those for adult consumers and teen boys.

So now you know, in order to get into the minds of your customers, you might just have to ask a teenage girl to become your next marketing director.
