Uncanny Million-Dollar-Businesses

Web Design Miami always appreciates successful ideas with a funny background, that is why we absolutely loved finding out the nutty ideas that people came up with that transferred into millions of dollars. There are plenty of businesses nowadays that one would never think of naming a multi-million business; but as we all know you can’t judge a book by its cover, no matter how ridiculous it may be.

An example of one of these uncanny business would be Fatheadz, a business solely dedicated to the creation of sunglasses for those with larger heads. Each pair begins at $28 and can range up to $54. Although many many not think about it, this is a very helpful business for those with “full-figure” heads. This year this business is estimated to reach $2 million dollars in profit.

Dawn Stokes’s love for racing paid off when she used the money from her 401 k to purchase 10 Corvettes and start a racing school, hosted at local tracks. The Texas Driving Experience began with an estimated $500,000 and is likely to make 1.8 million dollars by the end of the year.

The Geese Police is another business that you would never think would reach the million dollar club. Marcks’s company that uses collies to drive away geese from golf courses will have made an estimated total of 2.5 million in 2010. He discovered that border collies serve as a great instrument to banish the birds, and the rest is history.

Four Canadian moms grew so sick and tired of their children losing things at school that they created child-proof personal name labels. The labels are dishwasher, as well as microwave-safe, and are available for shoe labels, metal bag tags, ID wristbands and Allergy Alerts labels. Mabel’s Labels made 4 million dollars in sales in 2009.

DNA 11 is a DNA artwork company that was created by Adrian Salamunovic and Nazim Ahmed. The business that made 1.4 million in 2009 is designed for those science buffs that appreciate the beauty of the human genome. The two collect a simple cheek swab, that includes enough organic matter to create an image of human DNA.

Sky Zone sounds like everyone’s childhood dream that was never realized. Sky Zone arenas were created by Rick Platt and are the homes for birthday parties, corporate events, three-dimensional dodge ball tournaments and rabid trampoliners. The arena floors are covered in trampolines, it does not get any funner than that. Rick Platt made 3 million-plus dollars in 2009 sales.

Samuel Liechti hit the sock jackpot when he began BlackSocks, a sock subscription company that generated $5 million in 2009. BlackSocks will ship you a batch of Italian-made, knee-high or calf-length cotton or cashmere/silk dress socks, automatically, several times a year, starting at $89 for nine pairs. The company began in Switzerland, and branched out to the states in 2005. Today customers can be found in 74 countries.

Although many of these ideas would have never been named business gold, their entrepreneurs struck just that by pursuing their dreams and ideas. These stories serve as a small source of inspiration for all of us.

  15. This kind of is getting much more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is multi-colored, has more flair, plus some cool features like xview? that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you listening to. Clicking on one of those will target that item, and another set of neighbors?will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune ocial?is also great fun, permitting you to find others with shared tastes and becoming friends together.

  16. I’m impressed, I have to admit. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s both equally educative and engaging, and without a doubt, you have hit the nail on the head. The issue is something that not enough folks are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy I came across this during my hunt for something concerning this.
